Chinese Embassy in Seychelles Held Farewell Reception for Chinese Government Scholarship Recipients

On 24 August 2017, Chinese Embassy in Seychelles in collaboration with the Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD) of Seychelles held a farewell reception at the Embassy for 2017/2018 Academic Year Chinese Government Scholarship Recipients. Present at the reception were Chargé d'affaires and Political Counsellor Mr. Guo Zhenguang, Acting CEO of ANHRD Mrs. Nadia Lauricourt, Director General of the International Relations Division of Department of Foreign Affairs Ms. Lindy Ernesta, family members of the recipients and representatives of Seychellois graduates and undergraduates from Chinese Government Scholarship programme.

Mr. Guo Zhenguang warmly congratulated the students and thanked ANHRD and Department of Foreign Affairs for the recruitment assistance. He said since establishment of diplomatic relations 41 years ago, China and Seychelles have enjoyed a sound relationship with fruitful results in education and other fields. China has up till now granted scholarships to nearly 150 Seychellois students. He encouraged the students to make full use of the opportunity, study hard and promote China-Seychelles friendship.

Mrs. Lauricourt thanked the Chinese government for all the support. She reminded the students to take the studies seriously and return to Seychelles to give back to the country.

On behalf of the new intakes, Mersiah Rose extended their gratitude to the Chinese government and ANHRD for helping them make dreams come true. She said this will open a new chapter for their life. Graduate from Chinese Government Scholarship Tania Hoareau shared her experience of studying in China.

For the academic year 2017/2018, a sum of 17 Seychellois students have been awarded Chinese government scholarships. Among them, 9 scholarships go to Seychellois students who are currently studying in China for their further studies. The other 8 new intakes will soon leave for China pursuing Masters or Bachelor degree in various fields such as economy, information, finance, business and design.
