2017/11/03

On 30 October 2017, a new economic and technological cooperation agreement between the government of the People's Republic of China and the government of the Republic of Seychelles was signed in Victoria. Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles H.E. Mme. Yu Jinsong and Foreign Secretary of Seychelles Ambassador Claude Morel signed the agreement on behalf of their respective government.

Ambassador Yu said since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976, China and Seychelles have signed a number of economic and technological cooperation agreements. Under the framework of these agreements, China has provided long term assistance to Seychelles, which has not only promoted local social and economic development, but also brought tangible benefits to Seychellois. Signing of this new agreement will further promote bilateral economic and technical cooperation and enhance mutual prosperity and development.

Foreign Secretary Morel extended gratitude to the government of China for its support and assistance to Seychelles in the past years. He said the new agreement will play an important role in improving infrastructure conditions for Seychellois students.
